About Telehealth

Telehealth at CPS delivers therapy, psychiatric medication management, and follow-up visits via secure HIPAA-compliant video. Our licensed clinicians serve patients across Utah, including rural and underserved areas where access to specialty behavioral health is limited. This page is for patients in Utah who need care but can't easily travel to our Salt Lake City, Layton, or West Jordan offices.

Telehealth is clinically appropriate for most outpatient behavioral health needs: therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions; ADHD medication follow-up; and established-patient check-ins. Certain services — initial psychiatric evaluations for stimulants, neuropsychological testing, ketamine, Spravato, and IOP — require at least one in-person visit.

Telehealth visits are covered by most major insurance plans at parity with in-person visits (per Utah and federal telehealth parity rules for behavioral health).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is telehealth as effective as in-person therapy?
For most outpatient behavioral health conditions, research shows telehealth therapy produces outcomes comparable to in-person care. It's not appropriate for acute crises or when in-person procedures are required.
Can I get ADHD medication via telehealth?
Established patients often can. New ADHD evaluations for stimulant prescriptions typically require at least one in-person visit per DEA and state rules. We'll confirm what your specific situation requires.
Do I need special software?
No. You just need a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and stable internet. We email a secure link before each session.
Is telehealth covered by insurance?
Yes — most commercial insurance plans, Medicare, and Medicaid cover telehealth behavioral health at parity with in-person visits in Utah. Our billing team verifies benefits before your visit.
